My name is Stephen Jones, and I’m the founder of Cords & Covers, based in Elgin, Scotland.
Before turning my passion into a full-time business, I spent 30 years serving in the Royal Air Force as a Survival Equipment Technician. Throughout my RAF career, attention to detail, high standards and reliability were essential, particularly when working with, diagnosing faults and repairing complex aircrew life-saving systems and equipment. Ultimately, these are the same principles I bring to everything I produce today.
Cords & Covers began in 2016 as a hobby, making bagpipe covers for friends. What started out in my garage gradually grew, with demand increasing and the range of products expanding along the way.
Over the years, the business has developed to offer much more than bagpipe accessories. Today, I produce a range of bespoke bagpipe covers, cords and banners, alongside embroidered clothing. I also undertake sewing repairs and special projects, bringing practical skills and a personal approach to each job.
In March 2026, after leaving the RAF, I took the next step in my journey and turned Cords & Covers into my full-time business. Having secured my own premises in Elgin, I now have a dedicated workshop where I can focus on developing the business, expanding the product range and providing a personal service to every customer.

Quality and personal service are at the heart of everything I do.
I take pride in my workmanship, pay close attention to detail and aim to ensure every product meets the high standards I set for myself. Whether I’m making a bespoke set of bagpipe covers, producing embroidered clothing for a customer or tackling a sewing project, I believe the finished work should speak for itself.
Cords & Covers is a small, independent business built on my own experience, craftsmanship and a genuine passion for what I do. When you order from me, you’re dealing directly with the person behind the work, from the initial enquiry right through to the finished product.
Thank you for supporting my business and being part of the journey. I look forward to seeing where it goes next.
